What is an Internet domain name?
An Internet domain name is your own unique Internet address. By having a custom
domain name such as www.yourname.com, you can establish your own Internet
identity. It also allows you to centralize all of your online communications
(such as email and web site) under one easy to remember domain.

Why do I need a custom domain name?
The main advantage to having your own domain name is it makes it easy for your
customers, partners, friends, etc. to find you on the web. Other reasons,
include:
- Avoid the disappointment of having someone else on the web, maybe even a
competitor, snap up your company name.
- Prestige - in the business world, having your own domain name is prestigious
and shows you are a real player. It's a great way to enhance your company's
image and appear equal to the big guys.
- Independence - your own domain name and email addresses give you
independence from your ISP. You aren't stuck with whatever long address they
give you.

What does the domain name
service include? You get a custom domain name that is yours to use in any
way you like. Once you choose your domain name (i.e., www.yourname.com), you
can put it on business cards, marketing literature, graphics and more.

How do I register my domain name?
First you need to sign up for your Web site. If you have already done so, go to
the Custom Domain Name page.
You will be asked to enter the user name and password for your Web Site site.
For example, if you signed up for an Web site using the account name acmetoys,
and the password acme, you would enter those here:

After verifying your account information, you will be set to a page to check
for your custom domain name. In the box below, you would enter the custom
domain name you would like to use. Be sure to select the Top Level Domain (TLD)
suffix you would like to use (i.e., .com, .org).

If your name is available, you will be directed to a registration page to fill
out important contact and billing information. If your name is not available,
you will be asked to try again with a different domain name request.

How does a custom domain name work
with my Web site? To acquire a custom domain name, you must first complete
the sign up process for a Web site. After you have chosen your Web site address
and submitted your form, you can get a custom web address. The Web site address
you sign up for (i.e., ranone.netopia.com/acmetoys) will be forwarded to your
new custom URL. So whenever someone types in your custom domain name (i.e.,
www.acmetoys.com) into a web browser, they will be forwarded or redirected to
your Web site - without even knowing it! Visitors can still type in your Web site
address and get to your site that way too.

How much does a custom domain name
cost? The total cost for a custom domain name is:
- $40 for one year
- $70 for two years
- $150 for five years
- $250 for ten years
Unfortunately, there are no refunds on domain name registrations so please
make your selection carefully.
If I already have a custom domain
name, can I transfer to this Web site service?

Yes. Please use this page to
assign your domain name to your Web Site.
You may contact Motorola by
e-mail as well.
